How many treatments do I need?
Protocol differs for individual clients but generally, closely spaced treatments offer the most favorable results. As a general rule, we suggest 3-5 treatments per week up to 10 to 40. Constant assessment of both progress and forward treatment plan is essential. Collaboration with the client’s doctor is of great value throughout this process.
What conditions are treated?
Patients suffering from stroke, concussion, traumatic brain injury, radiation sickness from cancer treatments, and diabetics with slow healing wounds benefit from treatment. However, many others with joint pain, autoimmune diseases, sleep disorders, depression, and anxiety have had excellent results. Many athletes use HBOT to control inflammation, aid in healing sports injuries, and promote general wellness.
How long does it take?
Patients should plan on an hour and a half for a 60 minute dive, and two hours for a 90 minute dive. This allows time for clothing changes, pressurization, and depressurization.
How is this different from the chambers at the hospital?
Hospital chambers reach higher pressures or “deeper dives.” They use 100% oxygen because there is a doctor onsite. There are, however, a growing number of clinical studies showing the efficacy and benefits of the 1.3 atmosphere (or lower pressure) chambers. Acute conditions such as decompression sickness (bends) and severe carbon monoxide poisoning require immediate treatment in a high pressure chamber. Other non-emergency conditions, chronic or otherwise, benefit greatly from the healing boost of increased oxygen and reduced inflammation provided by Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy without the oxidative stress that can be caused by deeper dives. An oxygen concentrator is used in conjunction with the mild hyperbaric chamber which boosts the oxygen delivery in the oxygen mask to 96%.
